Jul 08 2020

Wondering how to spend your two weeks in our tropical isle?  Why not read through this itinerary and see if it peaks your interest? Of course, there’s many different ways of traveling through the island, however, we find this is the best way to spend your time here, without back tracking or wasting precious time traveling from one location to another!

Day 1 : Arrival

As you land in the tropical isle of Sri Lanka be greeted by the airport officials as they lead you through immigration to the silk route arrival lounge. For ease of travel and better experience, we’d recommend arranging for Silk Route VIP arrival service, which ensures seamless check out of the airport. Be met by your private chauffeur guide and travel to your luxurious hideaway where you can catch up on some much-needed rest and relaxation after a long travel to the island. We’d recommend Notary’s House in Makandura, which is a beautiful boutique hotel conveniently located closer to the airport and gives the perfect welcome to your Sri Lankan holiday.

Day 2 to Day 4: Cultural Highlights

Opt. to fly to Sigiriya (on everyone’s travel list) on Cinnamon Air. You save up on transfer time and get to see the beautiful tropics from a different perspective. This area’s is often referred to as the ‘Cultural Triangle’ as there are ancient cities and many UNESCO world heritage sites for you to visit. Anuradhapura, the first kingdom of Sri Lanka has some of the country’s biggest and oldest temples and ancient ruins. Polonnaruwa is another ancient city with an excellent ancient irrigation system and has several structures that indicate the cross cultural dialogs between the Sinhalese empires and the North Indian rulers as well. The ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya is a must visit, climbing to the top in the early morning is recommended. Other attractions in the area include, authentic local village visits, cycling tours through villages and paddy fields and a hot air balloon ride through the clouds to be finished off with a champagne breakfast.

Spend a few days relaxing and unwinding in the cooler climes and enjoy the slower pace of hill country life.
