FTI Touristik, Europe’s third-largest tour operator, confirmed intentions to bring substantial groups of high-end European tourists to Sri Lanka starting January 2024. HOT Tourism’s Business Development Director, Paul Hiemo, conveyed this commitment during a gathering at Colombo’s 7Degree Restaurant, attended by local hotel representatives. Expressing plans for active promotion in Europe targeting high-end tourists, Hiemo highlighted Sri Lanka’s readiness to cater to upscale visitors. The FTI travel agents, hosted by HOT Travels, concluded their inaugural visit to Sri Lanka on December 9th after a successful familiarization tour. Impressed by the country’s culture, landscapes, cuisine, and hospitality, the agents eagerly pledged to promote Sri Lanka among European luxury travelers.
During their stay, the group explored key destinations like Dambulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, Bentota, and Colombo, sponsored by leading local hotels and facilitated by HOT Travels. Before departing, they participated in a hospitality Travel Mart where industry representatives showcased their offerings, fostering collaboration between hotels and FTI travel agents. Known for facilitating diverse travel options across 120 countries, FTI supports various holiday styles, including self-drive, beach vacations, tours, and package services.
